The 2024 Awards Photos

Hal Leonard Europe: We’re delighted to share that Leah Claiborne’s book Expanding the Repertoire: Piano Music of Black Composers won the Founder’s Award at the inaugural Piano Education Awards.

This event was organized by Elena Cobb of EVC Music and presented by Andrew Eales, and celebrates excellence and innovation in piano education literature. Nominations were open for any publication from 2023 or 2024, and Hal Leonard was proud to have several titles included across various categories.

In a speech read by Bosba Panh, Claiborne shared, “I have dedicated my life to bringing piano music by Black composers to the forefront of classical music, especially for children who deserve to be exposed to the beauty and diversity of classical music at the fundamental years of learning…

I hope that this recognition will spark more interest in the works of Black composers and encourage a more inclusive representation on concert stages, starting with our youth.”

It was a true honour to attend and sponsor the inaugural Art of Piano Education Awards at the Royal Albert Hall. Hal Leonard is fortunate to have been EVC Music’s global distributor since 2021, and so we know first-hand how hard-working and determined Elena Cobb is. We look forward to supporting the awards as they evolve under her and Andrew Eales’ expert guidance.

Congratulations to fellow winners and nominees!

RSL Awards were delighted to sponsor and present an award at the inaugural Art of Piano Education Awards 2024!

The PianoEdAwards 2024, hosted in the Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall and spearheaded by Elena Cobb of EVC Music & Andrew Eales, seeks to celebrate excellence and promote positive innovation.

Our CEO, Tim Bennett-Hart said: “I was delighted to present the President’s Choice Awards at the inaugural Art of Piano Education Awards. The event was a truly inspiring chance to witness some amazing performances from students around the world and celebrate the published works that provide the backbone of piano education.

As a sponsor, we felt that it was not appropriate to enter any of the RSL material. Instead, we felt proud to support the event and will continue to do so over the coming years.

There are a wonderful selection of winners, but particular congratulations to all at Edition Peters, who were the recipients of the President’s Choice Award that we sponsored, and also to Pam Wedgewood, whose immense body of work was celebrated through a Lifetime Achievement Award.”
